Duodecimo green cloth with colored cyclamen plant and fern illustration (tips rubbed) 128pp + 16pp publisher's catalogue. Illuminated Sunday School prize label to Elsie Lowe, Christmas 1904. Rear endpapers with a few lines of pencil lettering, slight edge browning but neat & tight copy. *This children's story begins with double death of both father & mother, the orphaned boy is left to his maiden aunt but grows attached to the sea and is set on becoming a sailor although his aunt aprentices him to a grocer. The book is about how the aunt learns in submission that God's way is best and unexpectedly turns out to her liking. Probably not the first printing (1880) but an unusual theme and less common work.
