Small octavo pictorial light tan cloth (tips rubbed spine darkened a few marks) 108pp +[8]pp publisher's catalogue. *Story of young dressmaker who does not want to stay in her small home town but by so doing she reads "foolish sentimental penny papers", meets inappropriate friends, falls for a wastrel young man, acquires a liking for drink, but is brought to repentance by going to church and nurses her mother and others through the small pox epidemic. Loved by all she finally marries the sweetheart she jilted for life in town and its excitements. Neat copy of quite a scarce title.
