Two Volumes green ribbed and blindstamped cloth with large gilt vignette to each cover (different for each volume) spine overall gilt decoration (short splits to hinges at head and foot of spine, chipping to headband, tips worn cloth faded & sunned) All Edges Gilt, Vol I frontis +titlepage +[4]pp prelims +250pp +6pp booklist, Vol II frontis + titlepage +[2]pp prelims +252pp. Coat of arms bookplate George Jacob Bosanquet of Broxbournbury [1791-1866] + ink name Cecilia J.W. Bosanquet [his daughter] to each volume. Inner hinge of Vol I has paper splits but underlying mull not torn, pp120-125 with brown mark to lower margin touchingg a few words on 3 bottom lines which are still readable. Some other signs of use and pale foxing/tanning but a nice early set with paper supple and securely bound. *The 2 volumes include tales of the Crusades and Richard Coeur de Lion, story of Wueen Margaret, Alfred the Great and the Anglo saxons and Danes. A tale from the Old English Chronicles, one from Hungary about Bela the Blind, William Tell of Switzerland etc.
