143x86mm roan spined boards with gilt title to spine (edges worn/ head of spine chipped/front cover partly loose). Half title + titlepage +Preface + 247pgs.First two leaves with some browning thereafter clean however the first sections have pencil "X" to bottom margin of many pages. The half title has several names in faint pencil to blank area of the half title. There is also a tear with loss of piece of blank paper to gutter edge. No edition statement in this edition. Talk about the army and navy seem rather unlikely to "frequently occur in conversations" such as "2000 men were dead on the field", "a routed army" but also much on travel, eating manners, horses {mainly complaints about bad horses).
