VG+ *127 Public/General/National Statutes printed in full; plus 113 Local & Personal Acts giving title & brief contents only; plus 44 Private Acts (merely listed) Includes Representation of the People Act (Third Reform Bill); this had the massive support of the newly elected Whig government but was enacted only after some violent riots during which the mob held Bristol for two days. This statute eliminated many of the inequities of representation (rotten & pocket boroughs), the franchise was extended and parliamentary seats distributed more equitably.
