Description
Folio green blindstamped and gilt lettered cloth (soiled worn and covers detached and lacking spine) 16pp +plates. Subscriber's list. *The house is mentioned in Shakespeare's Richard the Third, and the dramatist in fact lived near by. It was bought by Sir Thomas More although at the time of his martyrdom he had moved to Chelsea but later his relations William Roper and Rastell leased it. In later years it was used as a warehouse and the throne room became storage space. Some dusty fingering, some foxing & browning & even a few marginal tears but quite a scarce book and still tight and worthy of rebinding. Much research on the remnants of early traces and the Shakespeare connection make this a desirable and scarce item.
