100x82mm Victorian cloth gilt lettered to cover (sl.curl to tips) All edges Gilt iv+310pp+6p adverts. Title continues INSTITUTES OF MARRIAGE: its intent, obligations and physical anatomically, physiologically and medically considered with an exposition of the structure and purposes of the Reproductive System, the hereditary transmission of qualities and the accidents and infirmities incident to youth, maturity and old age &c. with cases of correspondence, anecdotes etc. to which is added a poetical essay, entitled Callipaesiae, or, the art of having and rearing beautiful and healthy children. *Quite scarce only in the British Library. The author wrote several similar or single parts of this inclusive book but again aside from the addition of Aberdeen which seems to have a part of this work these only are found in the British library. Callipaesiae, or, the art of having and rearing beautiful and healthy children is a translation extract from two Latin authors Abbot Quillet & Dr. St.Marthe physician to Henry III of France turned into verse by an unknown hand and since Dr Culverwell noted that it was rare has printed these extracts with medical notes. Seems only to appear in this edition.
