Quarto vellum with yapp edges (corners bumped) with manuscript spine label. Titlepage in red & black +[6pp dedications] +[3pp=to reader] +[1p=contents] +199pp + [1p=addenda]+[10pp=index]. Yale College Library coat of arms bookplate with duplicate stamp. Handsome parallel Greek and Latin text on opposite pages, edited by H.C. de Hennin. Includes Saint Gregory Nazianzen's Carmina Cygnea Inedita which consists of 20 long and short poems, plus two shorter pieces by Saint Theodore Studites and Saint Macarius of Alexandria. An interesting longer piece on the Manichean heresies that were a serious threat to Christianity in the 3rd to 5th centuries (they believed that Satan was coeternal with God). Handsome vellum binding, crisp clean wide margined printing with only occasional isolated foxing. No tears, 2 pencil notes in Greek to text, no soiling or creasing.
