The second of these treatises seeks to refute Isaac Newton's argument that peoples tend to exagerate the antiquity of their origins as a matter of vanity and thus falsified their chronology. He belived that the Greeks did this with the origin of the Olympiads. Musgrave in this disseration works through the victors of the Olympic games to give a different chronology that actually seems to push the first Olympiad to an even earlier period.
