Two Volumes in One small octavo vellum yapp fore-edge, old ink title to spine and red number (1cm damage to hinge & slight damage to yapp at top corner). All edges dyed red. Titlepage +[6]pp dedication +[4]pp epigrammata +1068pp +[38]pp indices +[2]pp errata +2 blank leaves; Titlepage as above but Seculum XVI dated 1655 +[9]pp dedication +[3]pp +954pp +[35]pp indices. Marks of former damp to fore-edge of 1st 4 leaves, ownership inscriptions at foot of pastedown 1663 and titlepage 1659, some marginalia & underlining. Text mainly in Latin but with occasional German in black letter. *A neat very thick vellum volume covering major religions Christian, Jewish, Mohamedan, Greek etc from 1400s to end 1500s with information on the Councils, edicts etc. and a short section on the False churches. The various volumes deal with different eras of Church history starting with the first 3 books on the early Church ending with 9th volume 1667 with a biography of Hottinger. The author and three of his children were dead drowning in the Limat river which flows into the lake of Zurich.
