Folio (28x19.5cm) contemporary calf on 5 raised bands with later gilt spine title (re-hinged, some knife-cuts to covers, leather of corners restored). Lacks illustrated titlepage engraved by W. Marshall (supplied in facsimile) and its folding explanatory leaf, otherwise collated complete: [12]pp (titlepage, title to English Gentleman, dedication) + 454pp (454 misnumbered 253) + folding "Order of this Ladies Love-Lecture" + 52pp "THE TURTLES TRIUMPH Presented in a Supplement" and "A Tablet reflecting upon this Supplement". There are 5 separate titlepages each followed by a dedication, all Dawson printed and all but last dated 1641. Signatures go through in 4's except for Hhh in 2 and Nnn in 2. Newer endpapers, first Title front edge strengthened with paper tape, its verso has lightly inked library cancel stamp. Some browning mainly to margins, some marks of former damp (strongly affecting only 5 leaves), a few ink spots to fore-edges and margins. Last page has signature and pen trials and is creased. No worming, no foxing and firm in its binding (Wing B4262, ESTC R10286).
