Quarto in 6s original calf ruled boards, spine on 6 cords (rebacked in leather with original spine laid on, tips rubbed), Ex libris Geo. R. Carline Oxford 1909 with some neat bibliogrhic notes on pastedowns, [xii] +190 +201-598 +[18]pp index +119pp (recte 109pp misnumbered after p28) - the first 6pp inc. title "Eusebius his Life of Constantine" of this last part are lacking, all supplied in facsimile. "The ecclesiastical history of Socrates Scholasticus" and of "Evagrius Scholasticus", "The lives ... of the prophets, apostles, and seventy disciples of our Saviour", "A chronographie" all have separate dated title pages; register and pagination are continuous until "Eusebius his Life of Constantine" at the end. Light marks of former damp at fore-edge of most pages not affecting text, a few small wormholes in gutter towards end, pages otherwise clean and crisp. *Slightly defective copy (lacking 6 pages) of this English translation by Meredith Hanmer of accounts by Eusebius and other early historians of Christianity's first 600 hundred years (Wing 2nd ed. E3422A).
