Octavo near-contemporary darkened vellum with remains of ink spine title "Volumen Secundum" [ie. 2nd Part], stamped with initials I L and date 16ZS [?1625] (edges bumped, ties missing, vellum at top of spine worn away) [16]pp (Title & Dedication with summary of subjects covered) +1176pp +[72]pp (copious Index), collated complete. A few neat marginal notes in green ink, pages at end scuffed, but otherwise nice & clean throughout. *Well-organised guide written as a handbook for teaching spoken & written Latin, in the form of dialogues on various subjects, as set out in the Introduction. This volume covers architecture, politics & government, military & naval subjects, cooking, medicine, and the ultimate topic of Death - "Mors est ultima rerum linea, quae nullum caput fugit: moriendum omnibus, quicunque nati sunt".
