Octavo laced-through vellum with yapp fore-edge (top edge somewhat browned/traces of old ink library shelf marks to spine) All edges blued. Engraved titlepage + [12]pp To Reader + frontis portrait bound to face page I-XVI Apparatus + 855pp +[40]pp index. Divided into 4 parts making two volumes in One and through paginated, but indexed separately for each of the two volumes. Ownership C.F.Mu"ller to free front endpaper. A good wide-margined copy with printed side notes. The fine portrait of Elizabeth is present in strong good print by Crispin van Queboren dated 1625 (thus newly done for this edition). This is the first edition of the Continuation carrying the history from 1589 to 1603. The first part was issued in 1615, based largely on private papers of Lord Burghley. The work also contains many passages relating to America.
